Stone Mountain

Executive Summary

“Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia…and when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men, and white men, Jews, and Gentiles, Protestants, and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”- I Have A Dream, Martin Luther King Jr.

These words of Martin Luther King Jr. served as a sort of prophetic calling to the founders of OneRace Movement. As we delved into the history of Georgia, we were soon made aware of the clergy’s role in the perpetuation of racism. The unsettling truth is that in 1915, a group of “ministers” re-instituted the Ku Klux Klan on Stone Mountain. However, in 2016, several leaders and pastors came together to pray. We felt God impressing upon us to confront the racial realities and evils plaguing our nation. To prepare ourselves for this feat, we facilitated 17 pastor groups with 250 pastors and hosted a 40 Day fast in which 15,000 participants committed to prayer and fasting.

As a result, on Saturday, August 25th, 2018, OneRace’s inaugural event at Stone Mountain assembled 25,000 believers and 500 pastors from varying races, cultural backgrounds, and denominations. We were honored to provide a platform to display God’s hand in redeeming the painful realities of racism. Pastor John Perkins, Reverend Anthony Thompson, and Rose Simmons, among others, shared their testimonies that addressed God’s ability to redeem a gruesome past by orchestrating a marvelous future.

We would venture to say that this day went down in the history books of heaven as one of the most powerful corporate prayer gatherings of the 21st century.
